An all-British clash between middleweights-turned-welterweights, Jack Marshman and Brad Scott, has been scrapped from Saturday’s UFC London fight card.

First reported by MMAjunkie, Marshman was pulled out of the fight with Scott for precautionary reasons relating to his weight cut.

Wales’ Marshman was attempting to cut weight and compete as a welterweight for the first time in his career. Scott, meanwhile, was set to make his return to welterweight for the first time since finishing as a runner-up on the 2012 season of The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes, where he lost out to now-UFC middleweight kingpin Robert Whittaker in the final.

Marshman’s manager, Graham Boylan, told MMA Fighting’s Peter Carroll: “As with all athletes the weight cut is something that can go wrong no matter how experienced you are in this game. Hopefully we can get this fight rescheduled ASAP. He’s not the first and he won’t be the last. These things happen all we can do is learn from it. Jack would like to send his apologies to Brad and the fans.”

Set to take place at the O2 Arena on Saturday 17th March, UFC London will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass. The fight card is now as follows:

Fabricio Werdum vs. Alexander Volkov
