The surfing/skating Bay area native just loves his country music, SoCal look and, of course, scantily-clad women.
TV
What TV shows are you currently watching?
“Let me check my TiVo right now. I love watching Tosh.0. It’s hilarious. That guy is awesome. Workaholics is pretty damn good too. I’m not going to lie. But really I try to not get too dependent on TV. I already watch too much.”
If you could be in any TV show past or present what show would it be?
“Baywatch for sure. Enough said. I like being surrounded by beautiful women. They would all have to be wearing bikinis at all times. Maybe even have the show at a nudist colony. Hey, you did ask me how I would want it in my world.”
Aside from MMA do you watch any other sports on TV?
“I do like watching other sports. The (San Francisco) Giants are my team. I enjoy watching the (Golden State) Warriors. I have to watch my (San Francisco) Niners too. I’m a Bay Area boy. Those are my teams. Secondarily I’m a fan of the (Oakland) A’s, too. I follow all the Bay Area teams.”
MOVIES
What genre of movies is your favorite?
“Recently speaking The Wolf of Wall Street was awesome. American Hustle was really good, too. Comedy wise, the one with Jennifer Aniston, she’s not always my favorite but the one with her and the family that travel down to Mexico (We’re the Millers). That was hilarious.”
If there was a movie made about your life who would you want to play you?
“You gotta go with Leonardo DiCaprio. I think he could pull it off. Juice him up get some meat on his bones (laughs.) He is one of my favorite actors, he could do it.”
Have you ever cried while watching a movie?
“(Laughs) Man, this one movie, it just broke me down. I was like, ‘Oh my God. I’m crying.’ I look around and my dad is crying, my f**king brother is crying. It got all of us... But I’m not telling what it was!”
CARS
What was the very first car you owned and how much did you pay for it?
“I waited for quite a while. I got an old beat up Camry for a few thousand dollars.”
What car do you drive now and what made you buy it?
“I bought a 2013 Toyota Tacoma. It was my first real vehicle. I’m trying to be smart with my money. It’s nice but nothing crazy. It’s fun to do some expenditure trips and travel, but that truck was my first big purchase. Now it’s time to buy a house… or a few places, maybe invest in some real estate.”
If you could have any vehicle in the world what would you choose and why?
“I really like the Tesla right now. They have so much power, they are so quiet and clean and nice. I really like that car.”
STYLE
You have the west coast laid-back surf/skate vibe going on. How would you describe your personal style?
“It’s just the West Coast beach lifestyle. You hit the nail on the head. The surf/skate style, that’s me. That’s pretty much it.”
Do you have a certain brand or label you gravitate toward?
“I like just a nice clean style. I don’t like to be too labeled out. I wear a lot of Tavik. Tavik hooks me up with a lot of stuff. I like that they don’t brand everything. They have a little color, yet simple.”
So no MMA inspired fire-breathing dragon shirts for you...
“I can’t stand that stuff. I can’t stand it. It’s cool to have a sponsor like Jaco. They’re one of the few companies that doesn’t go crazy with it.”
MUSIC
What genre of music do you listen to most?
“I love lots of different music but I would probably say country music is my favorite genre. I like country a lot. You might not think that about me but it’s true. I actually went to see Tim McGraw in concert and loved it. There is no concert like a country music concert. Everyone is just having a good time. It’s nothing but good vibes there and the girls in cowboy boots and cowboy hats definitely does not hurt either. That might have a lot to do with it too.”
Who are some of you favorite country music artists?
“I like Zac Brown Band. I like Luke Bryan. And I like Jason Aldean. Luke Bryan has a very fun vibe. He keeps it fun and entertaining. I like all of those artists.”
What song is your guilty pleasure?
“I have a soft side, so yeah I have a few guilty pleasures. I like Lana del Rey. I like some ultra-calm music like that.”
