All but two athletes successfully made weight at the first time of asking as Cage Warriors prepares for their long awaited return to Scotland.

Cage Warriors 171 will take place at the Braehead arena Glasgow, with many a familiar face set to compete. There are several bouts that will have big implications across multiple divisions, with many athletes featuring just one or two potential fights away from a title shot.

In the main event Chris ‘The Bad Guy’ Bungard will face Dumitru Girlean in a Lightweight contest. Since losing out to George Hardwick at Cage Warriors 147, Bungard has picked up two impressive victories against Gavin Hughes and Perry Goodwin. Girlean burst onto the Cage Warriors scene when he knocked out Adam Cullen at Cage Warriors 152. Since then, the Italian was handed his second professional loss at the hands of Leon Hill, before getting back in the win column against Simone Patrizi.

Another man looking to bounce back to winning ways will be Reece McEwan. The Griphouse showed his grit and determination in his five round battle with Liam Gittins at Cage Warriors 164 for the vacant Bantamweight title. It was not to be for McEwan, who was cut open badly in the first round, and he was dealt his second loss as a professional. Standing opposite him on Saturday night will be the vastly experienced Cameron Else. In his 16 fights, Else has claimed some big scalps, including Paddy Pimblett and Dylan Tuke as he looks to add McEwan’s name to the ever growing list.

One of the hottest prospects in the UK, Sean Clancy Jr will be keen to continue his unbeaten run as he squares off against Lucas Rodrigues. The Higher Level athlete signed with Cage Warriors at 2-0 and secured yet another first round win against Milton Cabral at Cage Warriors 161. Rodrigues will serve as Clancy’s most experienced opponent to date and although entering the bout on a three fight skid, the Brazilian will call upon his experience in his hopes of causing an upset inside the Braehead Arena.

Aidan Stephen makes his long awaited return to the cage at a new division, as he drops to Bantamweight in pursuit of Cage Warriors gold. The Scotsman faces Gianluca Scottoli at 135lbs. Scott Malone is another man making his comeback in front of his country men as he faces the dangerous Nicolas Leblond.

The 16 bout card features a plethora of Scottish athletes with the likes of Jordan Stronge, Kier Harvie, Michael Blair and Jamie McDonald all set for what will no doubt he an unforgettable night in the Scottish capital.
