Former UFC title challenger Darren Till is set to return to competition in his pro boxing debut on July 20 after being inactive since December of 2022.
"The Gorilla" will feature on the undercard of Jake Paul vs Mike Tyson as he takes on Julio César Chávez Jr.
Till parted ways with the UFC back in February of 2023 following his loss to Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 282 which made him without a win in his last three appearances inside the Octagon.
Since then, the scouse fighter has spoken many times about wanting to step into the ring but nothing was ever confirmed until this point.
Before he made the decision to take a break from MMA, Till left the sport with an overall pro record of 18-5 having previously challenged Tyron Woodley for the welterweight title.
Despite his time away from the Octagon, he still intends on returning to the UFC at a later date where he hopes to fulfil his dream of becoming a world champion.
The bout is set to take place at 190 pounds and will consist of six, three-minute rounds in total.
César Chávez Jr. comes in with a pro record of 53-6-1 with one no contest and may be familiar to MMA fans after he lost a split decision in the ring to Anderson Silva back in 2021.
He has boxed once since then where he defeated David Zegarra later on that year and has been inactive ever since, having faced the likes of Danny Jacobs and Canelo Álvarez in the past.
BKFC star Mike Perry recently said that he was offered to fight César Chávez Jr. on this card but the money they offered wasn't high enough which has since been disputed by Jake Paul and his team.
The entire card is set to be the first live sporting event to be broadcast on Netflix, live from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
MMA icon José Aldo also recently announced that he was offered a fight on this card but is waiting to see what happens in negotiations with the UFC before he commits to the date.
The fight was first reported by Ariel Helwani on X who will be joined later today by Till on The MMA Hour.
