Four-time World Jiu-Jitsu Championships gold medal winner and UFC vet Vinny Magalhaes shares his best no-gi submissions aided by Syndicate MMA’s Casey Milliken


1. This technique is designed to look like you’re setting up a shoulder lock so you can surprise your opponents. Vinny (white T-shirt) begins in full guard and breaks Casey’s posture.


2. Vinny hips out and leans forward to pull his right leg across the back of Casey’s neck.


3. Vinny then pushes Casey’s head away just enough to be able to hook his right shin under Casey’s chin. 


4. Reaching over with his right hand, Vinny grabs hold of his right foot. 


5. Once Vinny has grabbed his foot, he rolls back to the center with Casey’s neck and puts his left leg over his right foot. He gets the tap by choking him with his right shin. 

PRO TIP

You’re going to choke with your right leg so don’t let it go too far when you hip out.
