Four-time World Jiu-Jitsu Championships gold medal winner and UFC vet Vinny Magalhaes shares his best no-gi submissions aided by Syndicate MMA’s Casey Milliken
1. With Vinny in full mount, Casey attempts a regular hip escape. Vinny must move his right knee from the ground to avoid it being pushed down, opening the door for the escape.
2. Vinny stands his right leg up so his foot is flat on the ground in the same spot, while simultaneously dropping his left hip into Casey’s lower back.
3. Vinny then underhooks his right arm under Casey’s right arm and around the back of his head.
4. From here, Vinny locks his hands together behind Casey’s head and tucks his own head in behind Casey’s right ear.
5. Vinny presses his body weight down to ensure Casey’s shoulders are on the mat.
6. Vinny steps over with his right leg but makes sure to keep pressure on Casey’s stomach with his right knee to maintain control.
7. Vinny skips his left leg out to create leverage to push down and squeeze the shoulder and head together.
8. Driving down with his right shoulder and squeezing his grip together, Vinny forces the choke and gets the tap.
