NOW DON FRYE IS ROLLING WITH SHATNER – ON TV AT LEAST
A few issues ago we reported on the awesome Priceline US TV advert featuring UFC 6 tournament winner and overall badass Oleg Taktarov, alongside William Shatner and The Big Bang Theory’s Kaley Cuoco (Penny). Now it looks like Taktarov has helped out his old pal Don Frye with a role in its latest offering.
Frye, who is no stranger to acting, having starred in box-office smashes Miami Vice and Public Enemies, appears to be the leader of a biker gang called The Thunder Dragons which is looking for a hotel. Clearly parodying FX’s show Sons of Anarchy, the Dragons get a helping hand from Shatner and Cuoco and everything is fine, until Shatner somehow manages to seduce Frye’s old lady.
As much of a lady killer as Captain Kirk was, we’re pretty sure US patriot Frye would set his fists to kill before he’d let a Canadian steal his woman.

EPIC! EPIC! EPIC! COME INSIDE JOE SILVA’S MAN CAVE
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who has the greatest man cave of them all? UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, that’s who.
If you haven’t seen how pimped-out Silva’s hideaway is, via a video posted online recently, then prepare to have your mind blown.
First of all, Silva has an actual Octagon in his cave. We’ll let that sink in for a minute while we wonder how many of his friends he’s throttled in the cage for not passing him a beer.
On top of that, he also has an original old-school Street Fighter arcade machine, a plush home theater system, gym equipment aplenty and enough movie and comic book memorabilia to make most nerds feel right at home – even if they’re around a bunch of dudes who could kick their ass.

BJJ CHAMP GABI GARCIA TO MAKE MMA DEBUT
BJJ black belt Gabi Garcia is set to make the transition from the mats to MMA this year. The six-foot-two, 235lb 2013 ADCC over 60kg champion will make her mixed martial arts debut for Real Fight Championship on August 17th against an unspecified opponent.
Speaking to Tatame.com, Garcia revealed she’ll have to lose 30lb to be eligible to fight in the 205lb weight class. She also mentioned she’d received two fight offers from Brazilian promotion XFC in the past and that she and her coach, Fabio Gurgel, were looking into it.
Within just over a month of being online, UFC legend Don Frye’s Priceline ad racked up over 17,000 views on YouTube alone.
MMA FINALLY BEING TAILORED TO THAIS
New Thailand-based MMA promotion Full Metal Dojo is attempting to produce a brand of MMA that appeals to Thais instead of tourists. Full Metal Dojo CEO Jon Nutt is stripping the Americanisms of MMA that are common in Thailand’s other organizations so he can make it more accessible to a Thai audience already hooked on Muay Thai. The promotion held its first event in Phuket in June.
Top Polish MMA promotion KSW used a cage for the first time in its history at KSW 27: Cage Time. Previously, the promotion had preferred to use a ring much like Pride and MFC.
