‘RAMPAGE’ JACKSON

Former UFC light heavyweight and unified Pride 205lb champ

32-10

YES

I liked the Pride rules, I liked all the kicking to the head and stuff. You could knee somebody in the head on the ground where now you get elbowed to the face and those blows last forever.

When you get kneed to the head on the ground that’s gonna knock you out, you know, it will damage you right there. But it’s not going to cut you up.

I’d rather get kneed in the head and knocked out than get cut and have a scar on my face for the rest of my life. But that’s just me.

Soccer kicks were at an early stage in the sport, and it had its place in Pride, but that’s where it should stay. I just think it’s dangerous. It’s one thing when you’re on your feet and you can see a kick coming and you can brace yourself, but it’s different when you’re on the floor.

If the rules are like that in the organization then I don’t blame the guy for using the rules to his advantage, but I just don’t think there’s a place for it anymore.

What you had to say on the matter ...

“The UFC is a class act. Fighters are protected very well and soccer kicks would jeopardize fighters careers. There is no need.”

“It’s a move proven to be effective and at the same time has been defended. Creates new opportunities for fighters to win and can make a wrestler think twice about lay and pray.”

@ELITENICK91

YES

“No, they are too dangerous and the UFC being shown on Fox now, people would begin to see it as a brutality instead of sport.”

@SLIMKILLA816

NO

“If the sport wants to continue its mainstream popularity and success, then no. It’s not necessary to have an exciting fight.”
