Featherweight Antonio Carvalho lands the finishing strikes to a heavily dazed Daniel Pineda at UFC 149 in Calgary, Canada. A left high kick, left hook, right hook crumbled Pineda before follow-up right hands secured Carvalho the knockout finish at 1:11 of round one. The result was double sweet for Carvalho – this issue’s featured video game-loving fighter (see page 88) – scoring his first UFC victory in front of his fellow Canadians. The veteran had even thrilled the crowd by walking out to the entrance music of Calagary-born pro wrestling legend Bret ‘Hitman’ Hart. Certainly a night to remember.
