Fighting your teammates has become a taboo subject in MMA so FO stages it’s own 3x5 question shoot-out. This issue, Jackson’s MMA lightweights Melvin Guillard and Clay Guida collide in our Q&A Octagon.

Round 1: AROUND THE OCTAGON

What age did you start training?

Guillard: I started wrestling at school at 13 and started training MMA at 14.

Guida: I was wrestling at the age of six, started fighting around age 24.

How quick was your fastest knockout?

Guillard: Around 14-15 seconds I believe.

Guida: In Mexico, I knocked out Daz Davis in about a minute with a knee.

Favorite move to end a fight?

Guillard: Always by knockout… always.

Guida: I’ve had a lot of rear naked chokes, but, honestly, whatever wins me the fight.

‘Fight of the Night’ or early TKO?

Guillard: Always early KO, Fight of the Night means you get beat up too!

Guida: Always go for an early finish, the TKO.

How many Fight, Sub’ or KO of the Night bonuses have you had?

Guillard: Two knockouts: Denis Siver at UFC 86 and Evan Dunham at UFC: Fight for the Troops 2.

Guida: I think five ‘Fight of the Night’ and two ‘Submission...’. I lose track man, so many.

Round 2: PERSONAL LIFE

Favorite luxury item?

Guillard: Watches. I have a Diesel watch my wife got me for our three-year anniversary.

Guida: My junior college national wrestling ring from 2001. It reminds me to never give up.

Do you have any pets?

Guillard:Pernall and Madison, two Brussels griffon dogs.

Guida: My pet snake died in December. I got it aged 18 and snuck it home on a plane in my hat!

Skimmed milk or ice-cold beer?

Guillard: I don’t drink beer and I only have milk with cereal!

Guida: Beer, buddy!

Who is your hero?

Guillard: Kevin Randleman.

Guida: My dad, my brother… Dan Gable, Joey Gilbert, Dick Butkus. The list goes on.

Who is your ideal woman?

Guillard: My wife, she’s just like me: a daredevil. We skateboard, surf together, she’s my best friend.

Guida: Salma Hayek. She’s the best, man.

Round 3: HAVE YOU EVER. . .

…stolen anything from a hotel?

Guillard: Never. I always wanted to, but I was afraid they’d just bill me later.

Guida: I once snagged one of those full-length body pillows, but I’m sure it went on my card.

…had a crush on a friend’s mother?

Guillard: No. None of my friends moms are really that hot!

Guida: My own friends’ moms, not so much. But definitely on some moms out there.

… dropped food on the floor, but eaten it anyway?

Guillard: Hell yeah, I’ve got like a five-minute rule.

Guida: Probably weekly!

… killed your dinner?

Guillard: All the time. Rabbits, squirrels, deer, even turkeys. Yeah, I’ve always been huntin’.

Guida: Just fish, when I was little.

... been caught with porn?

Guillard: “Yeah, there are a couple of people I’d take a bullet for in a heartbeat.”No, I’ve never been caught with porn – but I got a shit load of it!
