Number of ‘…of the Night’ bonuses for lightweight Canadian Sam Stout after his brutal KO of Yves Edwards at UFC 131 in Vancouver. The left hook gave Stout his first ‘Knockout of the Night’ to match his five ‘Fight of the Night’ bonuses.

The Edwards bout was Stout’s 10th fight in the UFC and, amazingly, the first of his UFC appearances not to end in a decision.

According to Mike Colbert, sports book director of Cantor Gaming, which operates many large books, a typical UFC event gets about four times the amount of action as a typical boxing card. Colbert told the Las Vegas Sun: “I’ll be the first to admit UFC is more popular better-wise. I never thought I’d see the day where it’s this popular.”

Ex-marine and UFC 130 participant Brian Stann led 42 men in securing a bridge in Karabilah, Iraq, during a week of intense fighting almost six years to the day of UFC 130. All 42 men survived during the objective and the subsequent ambush and firefight.

Since moving to middleweight, Silver Star recipient Brian Stann has notched three wins in a row. The former Navy football star KO’d Jorge Santiago at UFC 130 to improve to 11-3 overall. It was a loss to the much bigger Phil Davis at UFC 109 that sparked the cut down to middleweight.

Two fighters on the UFC 130 main card in Las Vegas were born and raised in Sin City, and they fought each other. Frank Mir graduated from Bonanza High and Roy Nelson from Cimarron-Memorial. On the night, Mir got the best of Nelson en route to a decision.

The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale was Ed Herman’s first appearance in the Octagon in just over 21 months. Herman suffered a severe knee injury way back at UFC 102 in August of 2009. Herman’s opponent, Tim Credeur, hadn’t fought for 20 months (his last Octagon jaunt being UFC Fight Night 19) due to a brain anomaly that has since healed. Herman TKO’d Credeur in just 48 seconds.

Fabricio Werdum landed 21 more strikes in a decision loss to Alistair Overeem at Strikeforce: Overeem vs Werdum. The strange bout saw Overeem avenge his 2006 loss to Werdum while being out-struck 69 to 48. ‘The Reem’ manhandled the Brazilian but was unable to finish with strikes as Werdum constantly looked for takedowns and flopped to guard repeatedly.

A proven member of the UFC elite, fans have watched Gray Maynard develop from TUF challenger to lightweight title contender. Best known for his stint on the fifth series of The Ultimate Fighter and his near title victory over Frankie Edgar in January of this year, the 10-0-1 (1 NC) Xtreme Couture wrestler is respected amongst MMA fans and fighters worldwide.
Knocks out Josh Powell inside three minutes in his MMA debut in Iowa, then takes a decision win over Brent Weedman in Las Vegas two months later.
Competes on the fifth series of The Ultimate Fighter, winning two fights before succumbing to a Nate Diaz guillotine choke in the semi-finals.
Takes on Rob Emerson on the TUF 5 Finale. At the start of the second round Maynard knocks himself out taking down Emerson, who simultaneously taps out from a rib injury caused by the slam. As both incidents are concurrent the bout is ruled a no contest.
