Stand-up specialist Ross Pearson (11-4) might be a UFC lightweight but he only keeps heavyweight names in his gym bag. There’s still room for the odd unique addition though…

Mouthpiece

Ross: “My gumshield’s from jawzz.com. It’s a customized piece for my mouth. It just fits great; you really don’t notice it when it’s in, when you’re training.”

“I could never go back to using a ‘boil and bite’, it has to be a fitted mouthpiece for me. I feel like the boil and bites are just too loose in your mouth, whereas the fitted ones are just there to fit on your teeth and you forget they’re even in your mouth.”

Knee Brace

“It’s a wrestling knee brace. Obviously I’ve being out practicing some wrestling, I’ve been learning some new shoots and it’s starting to wear and tear on my knees. So I’ve put a knee brace in [my bag] just to keep that strapped up.”

Biofreeze Pain Relief Roll-On

“I think every fighter should keep some Biofreeze in there because of the knocks and bruises you get every day from training. You just need it to help you get them out.”

Built To Fight Bag

“I just got it when I was out here in Vegas training at Wanderlei’s gym. The guys from On The Mat hooked me up with this bag. It’s perfect; it’s got all the little compartments you need for keeping everything clean and dry.”

Sandee Gloves

“I love the Sandee lace-ups. They’re great for pad work and bag work. I like the lace-ups specifically because they keep your wrist nice and tight. I’d rather use them more than the Velcros on pads. I just feel like my fists and my wrists are a lot more supported.”

UFC Gloves

“I’ve got the UFC training gloves. Basically I just wear them to grapple, to roll jiu-jitsu with. In an MMA fight you’ve got to wear the UFC gloves, so it’s just the same as wearing their gloves.”

Fight Shop Handwraps

“They’re a good material. They’re like a stretch material so it holds your fist in tight.

Tape

“I use the tape for my handwraps just to keep all my wraps taught. But I also use it for if you have a little injury where you have to keep your toes taped together, your fingers taped together, or wrap your wrists. It’s a handy bit of equipment.”

Sprawl Shorts

“Everyone should wear Sprawl shorts. They’re a must for me. They’re great MMA shorts, tough wearing, light and they’re just comfortable. They’ve got everything you need when you’re training and fighting.”

Tokyo Five Clothing

“Tokyo Five’s on me 24/7 to be honest. I like their T-shirts, I wear them to train in and as fashion, to go out in a nice smart T-shirt. Those guys look after me, they treat me well, I like their clothes and I love wearing their stuff.”

Sandee Shin Guards

“They just fit right, they’re comfortable. You don’t really know that you’re wearing them when you’re sparring in them. They’re light, they protect well and they’re a good all-round shin guard.”

Sandee Headgear

“I use the Sandee headgear. I get all my Sandee gear from fightshop.com. Those guys look after me for all my training gear and equipment.”
