Issue 059

February 2010

This is YOUR page to tell us what you think of all things Fighters Only and MMA! What do you like? What don’t you like? Who do you want to see fight who? Send us your pictures of you with fighters – and if you can slip a copy of FO into the pic, even better! Write or email in and the most interesting letter gets an FO T-shirt.

Hey FO mag, love your mag, especially the Locker Room section! We all love gadgets and tools of our trade. Here’s is a picture of me and one of favorites, Frank Mir, the ex-UFC HW Champion and WEC commentator on the casino floor.

The fight I want to see is Rampage vs Evans. Both are at the top of the division and are amazing fighters with different strengths. We all know Rampage will be back, the build-up to that fight will be amazing and the trash talking will be hilarious.

I hate early stoppages! Too many fights are being stopped as soon as a fighter is knocked down. Being down does not mean you are out. Unless a downed opponent is not visibly out, refs should wait to see if fighters cannot intelligently defend themselves.

The Next Big Thing In MMA

Dear Fighters Only magazine, we just bought our second issue. Your mag kicks ass. My better half and I just had our photos taken of our future MMA superstar and thought we would share them with all of you and your readers at FO. Keep up the good work FO mag!

Ryan and Katherine Kelly, Stratford, Ontario

Ed: Thanks Ryan and Katherine, let us know how it all goes with your new MMA star!

Teams Section

I enjoyed your November 2009 US issue with Anderson Silva. My one small complaint is your teams section on page 16. Please include CSW (Combat Submission Wrestling) next time. Erik Paulson’s camp has produced former champ Sean Sherk and current champ Brock Lesnar.

Eugene Chu

Ed: Thanks Eugene, technically neither Sherk (Minnesota Mixed Martial Arts) or Lesnar (independent) are part of CSW, but both have worked with Paulson in the past.

Gambling in MMA

First of all, good work on the latest edition. I loved the Anderson Silva interview and right now I do not think people can legitimately dispute the claim that he is indeed the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. I watched him when he was the subject of a UFC All Access show and it really opened my eyes to his character away from the ring. The interview in Fighters Only this month only further complimented that so-good job.

Also, as a man who occasionally bets on the big UFC events, it was quite insightful to read some tips into the MMA gambling industry and how it works, though I wish I had the success of Mr X.

Females Love Fighters Only Too!

Had to give a quick shout to the best MMA magazine out there. I’ve been training in martial arts over 11 years and have such a passion for the sport. I look forward to Fighters Only every month. Here are some pictures; I had the pleasure of meeting Wanderlei Silva and also fighters Kit Cope, Duane Ludwig, Leonard Garcia and Scotty Jorgensen.

Hey Fighters Only Mag, here are some photos for your mag. I had the pleasure to get my ass kicked by the lovely Cris Cyborg. I also had the pleasure to meet ‘Brown Pride’ Cain Velasquez, nicest person you’ll ever meet, as long as you’re not inside the Octagon, and my idol BJ Penn – very down to earth person, a true champ! Love your mag and keep up the good work… MMA for life!

Peace Out!
