The legendary UFC referee himself leads the first and only full-time mixed martial arts academy in Santa Clarita Valley, Big John McCarthy’s Ultimate Training Academy.
John McCarthy has been involved in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts since its inception into the United States in 1993. As the owner of the Ultimate Training Academy, John will oversee the day to day operations of the Academy as well as be the primary instructor for No-Gi Grappling, Strength Training, and all Law Enforcement and Military Training.
Not many people know that Big John has a black belt in BJJ, and though he is heavily involved with coaching of members, there is a long list of coaches from almost every discipline on hand.
Men, women and children, beginners or experienced, health enthusiasts or competitive fighters, all are welcome at Big John McCarthy’s Ultimate Training Academy. The Academy will accommodate every experience level or personal goal in the arts of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, submission grappling, wrestling, kickboxing and of course MMA.
Catering to all levels, the centre is perfect for everyone, from those who simply wish to get into shape through to those who want to compete at a professional level.
The facilities at this impressive gym include:
- 32ft x 32ft cage
- 24ft boxing ring
- 25ft x 25ft bag training area
- 2 private training rooms
- 3,000 sq ft of mat area
- 2,000 sq ft of cardio & weight equipment
- Men’s and women’s locker rooms
- Spectator mezzanine
Open 10am to 10pm from Mon-Thur, 10am-8pm on Fridays and 8am-3pm on Saturdays all are welcome to Big John’s UTA, so if you live near or are passing through Valencia, California:
