Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and his team are hunting after a trilogy bout with the newly-crowned 125-pound champion Brandon Moreno.

Mexico’s Moreno submitted Figueiredo in the third round of their title rematch on Saturday night at UFC 263.

With the first contest a draw, a fight that saw Figueiredo deducted a point for a low blow, and Moreno winning their second go of it, the Brazilian’s manager Wallid Ismael said they are determined to get that rubber match.

“Deiveson just didn’t show up Saturday and Moreno had a great fight and deserved the title,” Ismail said. [via Sherdog]

“Deiveson won the first one, even though it was ruled a draw, and Moreno won the second,” Ismail added. “Of course the fans would love to see the rubber match, and we are going to work hard to make it happen.”

Per that report, Ismail claims that the Brazilian translator omitted Figueiredo’s request for a second rematch in his in-cage interview following his loss.

Figueiredo doubled down on his attempts to make the fight happen, saying this to UFC Brasil after the bout.

“I had a terrible time in the weight cut process,” he said. “I was really slow in the fight, but I don’t want to make excuses.

“Tonight was Moreno´s night. He fought a great fight and deserved the belt. All I want is toreturn home, sit down with my team, correct my mistakes and fight the trilogy with Moreno.”
