They’re not booked to fight each other – yet – but there is no love lost between UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman and the recently-crowned “BMF” king Jorge Masvidal.
Usman and Masvidal, who came up to MMA prominence as stars from rival gyms in Florida, could be set to face one another for the former’s belt some time soon.
The pair got into a verbal battle after crossing each other at a Super Bowl media event in Miami, Masvidal’s hometown.
“Do something,” Usman said, repeatedly upon being confronted by Masvidal. “All I hear is you talking. Do something. You come up talking. Do something.”
Event organisers managed to prevent Masvidal from “doing something,” though “Gamebred” claimed he wasn’t interested in a physical confrontation after mockingly blowing kisses in Usman’s direction.
“You got a cast on, b***h,” Masvidal fired back. “I ain’t going to take advantage of you like that.
“You got a cast on b***h. You’re lucky. That’s the only reason nothing’s happening.”
Usman picked up a hand injury from his stunning knockout victory over Colby Covington to defend his UFC welterweight championship for the first time back at UFC 245 in December.

The champion took to Twitter to elaborate on the situation a little further. At the time of writing, Masvidal has not yet responded on social media.
