Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold hasn’t declared his retirement from mixed martial arts, but has indicated he could do some time soon.

The Californian, who also held Strikeforce gold at 185 pounds, was last seen in the Octagon competing at light heavyweight, succumbing to a knockout loss against Poland’s Jan Blachowicz in July.

Rockhold has also suffered a string of injuries which has hampered his cage time.

Since winning his championship from Chris Weidman at UFC 194 in 2015, Rockhold has fought four times. Three of those contests saw him lose by knockout.

Talking to ESPN, the 35-year-old said he was leaning towards calling it quits.

“I have no interest in fighting right now,” Rockhold told ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

While he holds that view, he also said to Helwani that he doesn’t like “closing doors,” meaning he isn’t prepared to officially retire at this stage.

However, when asked if it’s possible his loss to Blachowicz will be the last time we ever see him fight again, he replied: “Very.”

The Blachowicz bout led to Rockhold suffering a broken jaw which required surgery and the insertion of a titanium plate. His jaw had to be wired shut for five days following the procedure.
