Johnny Walker will step in to meet Misha Cirkunov inside the Octagon at UFC 235, replacing the injured Ovince Saint Preux.

Walker only competed at the beginning of the month, knocking out Justin Ledet with a spinning backfist at UFC Fortaleza in just 15 seconds.

The Brazilian is rightly being talked of as one if the up-and-coming light heavyweight contenders.

Walker, who has an MMA record of 16-3, is currently 2-0 in the UFC after being signed from the Dana White Tuesday Night Contender Series. Both wins in the UFC have come by spectacular knockout, his first coming by a vicious elbow against Khalil Rountree Jr.

Upon hearing the news of “OSP” pulling out of his fight with Cirkunov, Walker took to Twitter to campaign for the short-notice fight. This persistence clearly paid off as Walker attempts to establish himself as a light heavyweight force.

UFC 235 is set to take place at Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena on March 2. The event will be headlined by the UFC light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Anthony Smith, with the co-main event featuring a welterweight championship bout of Tyron Woodley vs. Kamaru Usman.
