If you suffer a setback, it’s important to get back on that horse which bucked you.

Frankie Edgar is reportedly doing just that. After tasting defeat to rising star Brian Ortega – the first stoppage loss of his storied career – at UFC 222, Edgar is expected to make a prompt return to the Octagon.

According to ESPN, a rematch between Edgar and Cub Swanson is in the works for the UFC’s return to Atlantic City, New Jersey, on April 21.

The pair first fought each other in 2014 at UFC Fight Night 57 in Austin, Texas. Edgar was dominant throughout, claiming victory with a dramatic fifth-round neck crank submission with just seconds remaining in the fight.

Edgar was on a two-fight winning streak as he was slated to fight UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway for his belt early March. However, Holloway pulled out of the fight through injury and the aforementioned Ortega was his replacement, snapping Edgar’s run to the title.

Swanson is also coming off a loss to Ortega. At UFC Fresno in December, “Killer Cub” endured a second-round guillotine choke submission defeat to Ortega following a back-and-forth fight which won them Fight of the Night honours. That was Swanson’s third conescutive Fight of the Night award.

UFC Atlantic City is to be headlined by a lightweight clash between Kevin Lee and Edson Barboza, with Edgar – Swanson rumoured to be the co-main event.
