Quick finishes in MMA are normally KOs, but speedy submissions are far from unknown.
Demetrious Johnson's recent defeat by Henry Cejudo brought to an end his record of most consecutive UFC title defenses at an incredible 11, but saw him fall short of Anderson Silva's UFC winning streak of 16.
Will Silva's streak ever be beaten? Now that Mighty Mouse has fallen short, it's hard to see when that might happen. But all this talk of records set our stat senses tingling and there's one UFC record that has really stood the test of time: quickest submission.
It's now over 23 years since Oleg Taktarov submitted late stand-in Anthony Macias in an incredible nine seconds on his way to overall victory at UFC 6 in Casper, Wyoming. It sits proudly at the top of our list of the 20 fastest submissions in UFC history and might well still be there in another 23 years' time:
