It’s official: Georges St Pierre is superhuman. After recently hitting ESPN’s lab for another episode of Sports Science, GSP tested his athletic prowess, with jaw-dropping results.

After the labcoats measured his striking power on a heavy bag hooked up with pressure monitors, results showed that GSP cannot only kick harder than Muay Thai specialist and former UFC 205lb champion Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, but can also punch harder than UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez.

Despite weighing in 70lb less than Velasquez, GSP can deliver 2,859lb of force in a single straight-right punch, compared with Velasquez’s choice of a left hook, measuring in at 2,230lb.

While it can be argued that it is not a fair comparison due to the difference in both punches, there is no debate when it comes to kicks.

With both Shogun and GSP throwing the same Thai low kick, Shogun’s measured in at 2,749lb of force, with GSP delivering a formidable 3,477lb of force.

The experiment gives credence to the welterweight champ moving up to the middleweight division to fight Anderson Silva, or simply hanging with the heavier and more powerful warriors.

While the evidence suggests GSP could clearly hold his own in a heavier weight division, seeing him slug it out with Cain Velasquez may be taking things a little too far.
