Former UFC bantamweight champion Miesha Tate believes that UFC 207 may be the last time we see Ronda Rousey fight if she fails to beat Amanda Nunes.
‘Rowdy’ is set to return to the Octagon on December 30th in Las Vegas when she has the opportunity to once again become the 135lb champion when she takes on current champion Amanda Nunes.
Speaking to TMZ, Tate said: “I already knew that. Didn’t everyone already know that? I don’t know why everyone’s so surprised by it honestly. It’s kind of like we already knew that before she fought Holly (Holm). So it’s no surprise to me. I already kinda knew this would be one of her last ones, if not potentially her last one if she doesn’t win it. It could be her last one.”
Despite the lack in confidence in Rousey, Tate hopes she does well so that she can get a third shot at her, having twice failed, once in Strikeforce and once in the UFC.
“I really would like another crack at her but I don’t want a half-hearted version of Ronda anyway so I hope she comes back strong and I hope it’s not too much of a race against the clock,” said Tate. “I definitely would like to face her in the future.”
Tate has her hands full with Raquel Pennington this Saturday night at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. For her to even be in the discussion for another title shot, let alone against Ronda Rousey, she needs to put in a big performance and get back in the win column.
