Current WWE part timer and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar has been slapped with a temporary suspension by the Nevada State Athletic Commission for multiple drug test failures for UFC 200.

Up until yesterday, Lesnar seemed positive on the idea of returning to the UFC. “To my fans that watch me in the Octagon, I thank them for their support,” he Lestatednar. “This has been a bumpy road. I’m gonna get through this alright. And there will be a day, maybe, that they’ll see me back in the Octagon.”

Lesnar’s positive drug tests showed traces of an anti-estrogen, hydroxy-clomiphene, which is on the banned substance list by USADA. It not only showed up on his June 28th out of competition drug test but also on the fight night test on July 9th at UFC 200.

The next step will be to provide his argument and defence if he chooses to present one at a formal hearing in front of the NSAC at a later date. The commission could potentially give Lesnar a 2 year suspension (like USADA) as well as fines.

If that happens then it would most certainly be retroactive to July 9th meaning the next time Lesnar would be eligible to fight for the UFC would be July 9th 2018 and which point he would be just shy of his 41st birthday.

Lesnar made a dramatic return to the UFC cage this past summer after a five-year absence, but another lengthy lay off, this time with the stigma of multiple positive drug test, would almost certainly put the final nail in the coffin of his professional mixed martial arts career.

This isn’t the only headline Lesnar has made in the world of sports entertainment this week. During his match with fellow WWE wrestler Randy Orton at the ‘SummerSlam’ pay-per-view this past weekend he seemed to give Orton a pretty purposeful downward elbow that we would normally see in a MMA cage. The result was a massive gash which opened up Orton’s head and required 10 staples – scarring him for life.
