The MMA world has been hit with the tragic news that Bellator fighter Jordan Parsons has died this week following a hit-and-run incident, which took place in the early hours of Sunday May 1st in Delray Beach, Florida.
After having a portion of his right leg amputated due to the injuries he sustained, 25-year-old Parsons passed away on Wednesday May 4th.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons,” Bellator president Scott Coker said in an official statement. “Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.”
The vehicle involved is believed to be a 2012/2013 Range Rover Sport. Anyone with information about the vehicle or the incident can contact the Delray Beach Police Department on 561-243-7810.
Parsons was due to compete at Bellator 154 on May 14th against Adam Piccolotti. His pro MMA record was 11-2 (2-1 in Bellator).
