Move from a neutral position to a smash your opponent’s body with knees.
Trainer: Rafael Corderio is the head coach at Kings MMA, California. He Teaches Muay Thai with Fernando Bettega.
1 - Rafael enters the clinch in 50/50 position, controlling the back of Fernando’s head with his right hand and the bicep with his left.
2 - By releasing control of the arm for a moment, Rafael pushes Fernando’s elbow up and dips under his arm.
3 - Rafael puts his head behind Fernando’s arm and clasps his hands together to lock him in position.
4 - By moving his hips back , Rafael gives himself enough space to swing his knee into Fernando’s midsection.
TOP TIPS:
FARANG
- Keep a strong 50/50 position so your opponent can’t get a double plumb on you before you can attack
THAI
- Bend your knees slightly to go under the elbow so you don’t dip your head straight into a knee
KRU
- When you throw the knee, use your hips to swing it round. Don’t lift it into your opponent’s body
