Half-guard escape to stand-up


1. Greg has Wade in half guard.


2. Greg pulls his left leg back and gets the butterfly hook under Wades right leg.


3. Greg begins to work his left arm out trying to clear Wade’s underhook.


4. Greg then slides his forearm under Wade’s chin and grabs his shoulder.


5. Greg begins to twist his body and uses his forearm to push Wade away, opening up space.


6. As Greg pushes Wade away with his forearm, he also extends the butterfly hook in order to create space to slide his right out.


7. Greg posts his right forearm onto the ground while maintaing the pushing pressure with his foeram under Wade’s chin


8. After creating space to slide his right leg out, Greg releases the butterfly hook and uses his left leg and right forearm to balance as he pulls his right leg out from under Wade.


9. Greg begins to stand up, maintaining the pressure on Wade with his left forearm.


10. As he returns to his feet, Greg slides his hand down Wade’s arm, controlling his bicep and thus preventing him from standing.
