Even the most stone-hearted of warriors gets a cold shudder as they walk to the Octagon, but a new study suggests all they need to do to ease pre-fight nerves is pop a capsule of cod-liver oil.

The study conducted at Ohio State University provided 68 medical students with a daily dose of omega-3 in the build-up to their end-of-year exams. The researchers discovered lower levels of anxiety with the students who had taken the omega-3 in comparison to the students who had taken a placebo.

While the study certainly shows that fish oil can ease nerves, wannabe warriors may want to invest in a few cases if they're ever to go toe-to-toe with 'The Axe Murderer' Wanderlei Silva.
