Trapped in mount? Don’t fret. All it takes is a couple of steps to make your opponent tap.
Trainer: Ricky Lundell
The BJJ black belt and NCAA Division I wrestling prodigy presents his MMA leglock masterclass with UFC heavyweight Frank Mir.
1 - Frank has mounted Ricky with both arms on the mat for leverage. Ricky tries to stay low to keep his head away from danger.
2 - Ricky puts his left foot on his right thigh. While moving his foot, he traps Frank’s right foot by moving it with his left shin.
3 - As Frank tries to get his foot free, Ricky leans forward, catches Frank’s trapped foot and moves it to the top of his right thigh.
4 - While keeping hold of Frank’s foot, Ricky uses his left leg to stomp forward on Frank’s trapped leg to complete the foot lock.
TOP TIPS:
WHITE BELT
- This technique is really easy but really powerful, so when you practice it, go even lighter than with other drills.
PURPLE BELT
- Putting your foot on your opponent’s right thigh will be really annoying, so they’ll be compelled to try and clear it.
BLACK BELT
- When you’re mounted, before you try and attack, keep your head tight to your opponent so they have difficulty hitting you.
