Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor cut a relieved figure on social media as he shared footage of the aftermath of a nasty incident on the road on Friday.
McGregor was out cycling on his mountain bike when, according to the Dubliner, he was hit from behind by a car, knocking him off his bike and onto the road.
"Got a bang off a car just now from behind," he posted on Instagram.
"A sun trap, the driver couldn't see me. Full speed straight thru me,"
"Thank you God, it wasn't my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life."
Along with his message, McGregor shared a photo of his bike on the road, as well as video of the immediate aftermath as the driver of the car checked on McGregor after the incident.
"Mate, that's nasty," McGregor said, still clearly shaken up by the incident.
"I could have been dead there, mate. Lucky to get away with my life there, boys."
McGregor also posted a message from the man's car as he gave McGregor a lift home.
"God bless... I’m still here, thank God," he said.
"That’s all that matters."
McGregor has been working his way back to full fitness following his broken leg sustained in his third fight with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021. Rumors have been circulating about a possible return in the summer.
