The PFL have added another elite name to their roster with the signing of women's super middleweight boxing world champion Savannah Marshall.

England's Marshall is one of the top pound-for-pound female boxers on the planet, and her recent bout against Claressa Shields in October 2022 setting records as the most-watched women's professional boxing event in history.

Now Marshall has signed a multi-fight contract with the PFL and will expand her combat sports career to a new discipline as she kicks off her mixed martial arts career inside the SmartCage.

Marshall will join a stellar lineup of female athletes on the PFL roster, including two-time Olympic champions Kayla Harrison (judo) and Shields (boxing), as well as PFL world champion Larissa Pacheco, and fellow boxing world champion Amanda Serrano.

Together, these athletes, plus other female athletes on the roster, form PFLW which, according to a press release from the promotion, "will put the focus on women in combat sports while continuing the PFL's fighter-first merit-based approach to MMA."

"I want to welcome two-time boxing world champion, Savannah Marshall to the Professional Fighters League," said PFL CEO Peter Murray.

"It’s an exciting time for PFL as we officially launch PFLW, and the addition of Savannah Marshall strengthens the best global roster of women in combat sports.

"PFLW is committed to the empowerment and equality of all female athletes and provides a dedicated platform for women to become PFL MMA champions."

"I am thrilled to begin my journey in MMA with The Professional Fighters League," said Marshall.

"I am proud to join the most talented female combat sports athletes in the world and continue to raise the profile of women in sports through PFLW."
