UFC President Dana White has flirted with the idea of moving into boxing for many years now.
Having gotten his start in combat sports by being a boxing coach as an avid fan, White has always expressed an interest in looking to apply everything he has learned about MMA into his first love.
At first, the UFC boss had dipped his toe into the world of boxing promotion by diving right in at the deep end with one of the biggest fights of all time, McGregor vs Mayweather.
Though Zuffa Boxing has been a prospect for many years, White's biggest involvement in the sport has been through Irish prospect Callum Walsh who he has helped to promote for several years.
Walsh is set to return on Friday night when he faces Przemyslaw Runowski at the 3Arena in Dublin as he looks to extend his pro record to 12-0.
Having made the trip over to the Emerald Isle, White was asked during a live Q&A on stage at the weight-ins about whether he will have more involvement in boxing in the near future.
"There will be some big announcements soon. Let me tell you, if you know anything about me and look at anything I ever said, I never say anything that I don't do ever.
"I've never said anything like that and we've been kicking the whole boxing thing around for a long time, but you've never heard me commit and say, 'I'm in'. Well, I'm in."
Given his success in the MMA landscape, White entering the boxing world could be huge for the sport, especially with boxing experiencing a boom period right now.
It remains unclear whether White's involvement will also feature the presence of Turki Alalsheikh who collaborated with the UFC on this past weekend's UFC 306 event.
Walsh vs Runowski will air live on UFC Fight Pass and via TNT Sports after White also revealed that Frank Warren and Queensberry Promotions had agreed to give up his exclusivity with the broadcaster in order to air this fight on a big TV platform.
