Movsar Evloev will not compete at UFC 307 after his original opponent, Aljamain Sterling, withdrew from the fight.

It was announced last week by Sterling himself that the former UFC bantamweight champion wouldn't be able to compete on October 5 due to an injury he sustained in training.

"Funkmaster" spoke about this decision on his YouTube channel:

"In sparring I had an injury. I did stem cells. I took time off. I tried to rehab it as much as I could and as best I could with the [UFC Performance Institute]. Unfortunately, it's out of my hands now."

Once this news was made official, it was also reported that the UFC were looking to find the 18-0 Evloev a new opponent for Salt Lake City.

Currently occupying the #6-ranking spot in the featherweight division, finding someone that would be willing to face the Russian on two weeks notice was never going to be an easy task.

It has since been reported by MMA Mania's Alex Behunin that the promotion was unable to secure a replacement meaning that Evloev will not be competing.

Despite holding wins over the likes of Arnold Allen, Diego Lopes and Dan Ige, several high profile fight cancellations and periods of inactivity have slowed Evloev's progress.

In the last two years alone, he has had this fight with Sterling, two encounters with Bryce Mitchell and a clash with the current featherweight champion Ilia Topuria, all fall by the wayside.

Despite the loss of this incredibly intriguing clash of styles, the card for UFC 307 is still looking strong with UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira headlining the Delta Center.
