Petr Yan capped off a memorable night in Macau with a phenomenal main event win over the former flyweight champion, Deiveson Figueiredo.

The Russian only recently went through a three-fight losing streak with defeats in razor close contests and a one-sided affair against the current champion but on Saturday night, he was back at his very best.

Fight fans around the world were reminded what "No Mercy" is capable of on his day, recapturing the form that saw him previously hold the bantamweight gold.

Having lost a few close fights, Yan was just happy to get the nod this time around when reflecting on the fight in his Octagon interview:

"You know, I felt that I led in the fight but you know, anything can happen in the UFC."

Figueiredo certainly played his part in a bantamweight classic as the two top five contenders showcased exactly why they're two of the most exciting fighters in the world.

After an opening round of grappling, the striking from Yan started to take over and at the end of five rounds, he was awarded the unanimous decision with all three judges awarding him each round.

Yan may have returned to the win column last time out against Song Yadong but halting the winning streak of Figueiredo was going to take some stopping and he did it with a vintage performance.

When he was asked what's next for the former champion, he called for a rematch with Merab Dvalishvili after the current titleholder previously handed him his most decisive loss in the UFC.

"Merab told Deiveson Figueiredo number one contender who deserve title fight. I wanna say, Merab, what you say now now I beat number one contender in my division. I want to do rematch with Merab, let's go."
