At UFC 313, Magomed Ankalaev will finally get another shot at the light heavyweight title as he looks to extend his unbeaten streak at 205-pounds.

In order to leave the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas with the gold on March 8, he will need to beat a man that he has been chasing down for quite some time.

Ankalaev has previously fought for the belt having gone to a draw with Jan Błachowicz at UFC 282 which led to the title remaining vacant.

This bout and his subsequent no contest against Johnny Walker saw him fall down the picking order slightly despite the fact that he is still yet to suffer a defeat since his UFC debut back in March of 2018.

Beating Walker in their rematch and following that up last October with a win over Aleksandar Rakić in Abu Dhabi made him undeniable and now, Ankalaev finally has his wish.

He will now look to end the incredible title reign of Brazil's Alex Pereira who successfully defended the title on three occasions throughout 2024.

"Poatan" and his next challenger have exchanged words in the past, leading the champion to post the following message on social media as he was in attendance at the Intuit Dome this past weekend where the fight was made official.

"See you soon Ankalaev"

Ankalaev responded to the post by making reference to Pereira's former career before he took up kickboxing and went on to achieve incredible success in Glory before making the move over to MMA.

“You just sign your death certificate,” Ankalaev wrote on X. “I’m gonna punish you for ducking me and I’m gonna make you look like a guy work in a tire shop, not professional fighter.”
