Hit a home run by making your opponent tap with a tight baseball bat choke

Vinny Magalhaes

Four-time world BJJ champion, 205lb fighter and instructor at Syndicate MMA in Las Vegas reveals his best fight tips with Scott Kaplan

1 - Vinny is in mount, keeping low to make his next move discrete.

2 - Staying low, Vinny pulls out Scott’s lapel with his right hand.

3 - Vinny passes Scott’s lapel to his left hand and pulls it tight while maintaining pressure in top position.

4 - Vinny now has the baseball bat grip on Scott’s lapel, with his right palm up and his left palm down. He has to posture up to extend his arms.

5 - To finish the choke, Vinny steps out to his left, leaving his right knee resting on Scott’s stomach.

6 - Vinny keeps his left arm straight but pulls his right elbow down to apply the choke.

7 - If Vinny is unable to finish the choke, he generates more torque by moving to the north-south position.
