Alistair Overeem returns to the Netherlands to make his case for a heavyweight title shot.
Backed by a partisan crowd of more than 10,000 fans in his home country, Alistair Overeem couldn’t lose. After surviving an early onslaught from Andrei Arlovski, he was spurred on by his countrymen, who cheered every destructive strike the Dutchman landed on his Belarusian opponent, including a devastating jumping front kick and punches that closed the show. ‘The Reem’ is now in line for the next crack at the belt and, maybe, a first title defense back home in the 53,502-seater Amsterdam Arena?
