Frankie Edgar does everything he can to chase down an elusive shot at the UFC 145lb title and fight at Madison Square Garden

Tuesday March 1

The former UFC lightweight champ has a morning of media in NYC. He appears on Garbage Time with Katie Nolan, but not before squeezing in 30-minute, full-body workout at Daily Burn with instructor Phoenix Carnevale.

Saturday March 5

His division’s champion, Conor McGregor, is headlining UFC 196, so Edgar joins the UFC on Fox team as a guest analyst. He watches alongside Dominick Cruz and Brian Stann, and isn’t surprised as Nate Diaz earns the win by rear naked choke.

Friday March 11

Frankie wishes his friend and the Brazilian jiu-jitsu master who gave him his BJJ black belt, Renzo Gracie, a happy birthday. He also celebrates his mentee, Sebastian Rivera, who’s the new NJ State wrestling champ.



Thursday March 17

Frankie travels back to New York City, at Madison Square Garden, to watch some of the best college athletes in the country compete at the 2016 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. It’s a venue he has his eye on competing at soon. 

Tuesday March 22

After years of back-and-forth political battles, mixed martial arts is finally legalized in New York State. It’s great news for Edgar, who was a key campaigner for the bill. He says: “Wow long time coming! Better late than never!”

Wednesday March 23

‘The Answer’ meets fans interested in signing up to his UFC Gym, which is being constructed in North Brunswick. “I’m going to be working out for the rest of my life, I might as well have a place to do it at,” Edgar says.

Wednesday March 30

The UFC announces José Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar 2 for the interim 145lb title at UFC 200. The winner will get a shot at McGregor. Edgar says: “Mission Search and Destroy. July 9th. UFC 200. Don’t matter who it is. I’m coming!”
