Jones’ three 205lb targets
Pound-for-pound king Jon Jones says he wants three more fights at light heavyweight before he makes the move up a weight class. Speaking to fans on Twitter, he said he’d like to rematch Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson, as well as finally face Anthony Johnson before taking on the big boys at heavyweight.
Lombard: ‘I want Rory’
Returning UFC 170lb’er Hector Lombard says he wants to fight Rory MacDonald. Speaking after an appearance in London, ‘Showeather’ said the Canadian wouldn’t face him because he was picking his fights, but that was because he was smart, not scared. ‘The Red King’s camp insists they hadn’t turned down a fight with the Cuban.
Benavidez still an Alpha
Despite being spotted at the Elevation Fight Team and Jackson-Wink MMA ahead of his fight with Zach Makovsky, Joe Benavidez insists he’s not split with Team Alpha Male. The UFC flyweight says he’s always trained at different camps throughout his career and the members of the Sacramento gym “are family” to him.
Bendo ‘tip of the iceberg’
Bellator MMA president Scott Coker says the signing of former UFC 155lb champ Benson Henderson could open the free-agent floodgates for his promotion. He says he won’t bid for every fighter dipping their toes into the open market, but hints there are more big signings to come courtesy of organization owner Viacom’s deep pockets.
