Joseph Benavidez shows that a full gas tank doesn’t come for free.

If there’s one thing you can be sure of almost every time elite flyweights come together in the UFC, it’s that you’re in for 15-25 minutes of chaotic, non-stop action. But that doesn’t happen by accident. Sure, the pocket rockets at 125lb are more physically inclined to be cardio machines compared to hulking 265lb heavyweights, but there’s a ton of work they’ve got to do to make sure their gas tanks are practically bottomless. Exhibit A: Joseph Benavidez, one of the division’s most seasoned competitors. With his nose kept firmly to the grindstone between fights, you’ll rarely see him fail to compete until the final bell... Unless he stops his opponent before then, of course.
