Turn a fight and your opponent on their heads by employing a sumi gaeshi corner reversal
Jimmy Pedro Jr
The US Olympic coach and 6th degree black belt shows you, along with Aaron Kunuhiro, judo techniques that work for MMA
1 - Jimmy takes hold of Aaron’s lapel with his right hand.
2 - Jimmy pulls down hard on Aaron’s lapel and grabs the back of his belt with his left hand.
3 - Jimmy closes the distance by stepping his left foot between Aaron’s legs.
4 - Jimmy does the same with his right foot and begins to drop back to the mat.
5 - As Jimmy falls, he elevates Aaron’s hips using his right leg so he can throw him backward.
6 - Aaron hits the mat and Jimmy follows him by rolling over his left shoulder.
7 - Jimmy finishes in the full mount position where he is ready to attack for a submission.
TOP TIPS
WHITE BELT
Tuck your chin in when falling to the mat to avoid hitting the
back of your head.
BROWN BELT
If your opponent’s belt has come undone, grab the back of his pants before attempting this throw.
BLACK BELT
When in the mount position, keep your opponent’s head off the mat with one arm to limit his movement. Use your free arm as a base on the mat.
