April 2016

A determined Chris Weidman begins the journey to avenge his loss to Luke Rockhold and reclaim the UFC middleweight title.

Thursday January 14th

One month after losing the 185lb title to Luke Rockhold at UFC 194, Weidman declares his mission to reclaim it: “The camp to regaining my belt has officially started today. This loss has created a monster inside of me.”

Monday January 18th

The snow is falling in New York, so the former UFC champ takes two of his three

children, CJ and Cassidy, sledding. He was looking forward to some hot

chocolate afterwards but apparently elite athletes don’t keep any in their kitchens.

Wednesday January 20th

After grabbing a bite with his wife, Marivi, Weidman gets back to work at Law MMA with some strength and movement work with fight performance coach Tony Ricci, training partner Gian Villante and head coach Ray Longo.

Saturday January 23rd

New York is buried under several feet of snow after being hit by a blizzard, so the ‘All-American’ puts his training on pause and takes CJ and Cassidy out on his quad bike for some winter fun and to do some donuts in the drifts.

Tuesday January 26th

After a federal judge rules against the UFC’s April event in NYC, Weidman campaigns for MMA legalization. “It’s time New York joins every other state to legalize and regulate the sport that I and so many other New Yorkers love,” he states.

Monday February 1st

Continuing his mission to come back better than ever for his rematch with Rockhold, which is confirmed for UFC 199 in June, Weidman trains cardio outdoors in Long Island, then continues with strength training led by coach Ricci.

Tuesday February 2nd

Weidman goes from cage fighter to catwalk model at the Grungy Gentleman fashion show in New York. “Trying to hold in that smile is not easy,” he says after making his runway debut. Don’t give up the day job, Chris!
