Icelandic 170lb prodigy Gunnar Nelson reveals his favorite training gear
A. UFC gloves
“We use the UFC gloves for a lot of the flow sparring and for when we’re grappling to get used to wearing them.”

B. Impact mouth guard
“I have a (custom) one from Impact in Ireland. I got it made and it still works good.”

C. Adidas head guard
“I like the adidas one – the kind of open one. It doesn’t cover as much. We use head guards so you don’t get cut if you clash heads. Always, one guy wears a head guard.”

D. Vale tudo shorts
“I like vale tudo-style shorts – extra tight.”

E. Bad Boy & Radius sparring gloves
“We have 8oz gloves – I have Bad Boy ones – and then I have 16oz Radius gloves for boxing, when we go a little bit harder. The Radius gloves are definitely the best boxing gloves I’ve tried.”

F. Bad Boy shin guards
“I have Bad Boy shin pads. Mine have straps, I usually struggle getting in and out of sleeved ones. The straps are great. They’re as tight as the sleeved ones and they move just right. You always have to correct anyway if you check a weird kick or whatever, they always move around a little bit. But I like the ones I have now. We use them mainly for striking as it’s a bit weird wearing them for grappling. It’s always a bit awkward.”

G. Supplements
“I usually just bring myself and my gear, and plenty of fresh water. I will go for a protein shake sometimes, but that’s really about it.”
