FO follows Hawaiian Max Holloway on his journey from Wai’anae to the Great White North in search of featherweight glory
Thursday July 23rd
One month out from his UFC Fight Night 74 bout – his first ever main event fight – against fellow featherweight contender Charles Oliveira, Holloway tries out his new pair of Nike boxing shoes during his pads session.
Saturday August 1st
Max continues to hone his skills with the Hawaii Elite MMA team. Today he dons a eye-catching rash guard in the style of the battle suits from Japanese anime Dragonball Z. “I am Max and I am a Super Saiyan,” he declares.
Thursday August 6th
It’s not easy keeping a disciplined diet during training camp. Luckily, Mike and Billz Fire Grillz in Makakilo has delicious lean bison meat to satisfy Holloway and keep him fueled for another day of hard training.
Sunday August 9th
It’s the Sabbath, which means it’s a well-earned day of rest for devout Christian Holloway and his family. He and his wife make the most of their leisure time by taking their son to play in his first flag football game.
Sunday August 16th
At the end of his last week of training in his home state, Max bids farewell to his family before jumping on a plane to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in Canada where he will face Oliveira, live on Fox Sports 1, in just one week’s time.
Friday August 21st
Just one day before he’s due to weigh in for his fight at the SaskTel Arena, Holloway has to rise early to join fellow main card fighter Chad Laprise on local Saskatoon morning TV to promote the UFC’s return to Canadian soil.
Sunday Aug 23rd
Holloway enters the arena to cheers from Canadian fans, but the fight is cut short after 99 seconds when Oliveira suffers a neck injury. But ‘Blessed’ is happy to get his seventh straight win and become the youngest man to record 10 UFC victories.
