All-action Irishman Neil Seery eats like a beast in and out of camp, but still has an easy weigh-in

Q. Name the five food must-haves during fight camp.

A. Eggs, chicken, salmon, broccoli and lettuce.

Q. That’s all pretty clean, do you gorge on anything?

A. Honestly, I gorge on everything. I’m not that big a flyweight. I make weight really easily, so I eat everything. I do like pizza now and then, so probably that’d be the one.

I still try and eat clean because I work and, obviously, you’ve got set break times. It’s not like I’m eating all day long, I’m eating when it’s a set break.

Q. What food do you look forward to after a fight?

A. I eat all the crap before the fight, so I don’t really care for s**t like that. Just a post-fight drink, that’s what I have – a post-fight Guinness is what I look forward to (laughs).

Q. Do you keep anything other than frozen peas in your freezer

A. I’ve four kids, man. My freezer’s full of ice cream (laughs). I’ll eat that as well, but to be honest, I don’t have a sweet tooth. I’m a hell of a man for chips. I eat a lot of chips.

Q. What’s your favorite bottled sauce?

A. I eat a lot of Frank’s hot sauce, believe it or not. I put Frank’s on pretty much everything.

Q. What’s your signature dish?

A. Either chicken or fish, and sweet potato. That’s about it. I don’t do exciting. Salmon is my favorite meal during fight camp – salmon, steak and fried rice. It’s gotta be fried, I wouldn’t want to eat something boiled.

Q. What nationality of food is your favorite?

A Chinese. That’s my takeout of choice for sure.

Q. Who’s cooking do you prefer: you wife’s or mom’s?

A. My ma’s, most definitely. My wife can’t cook for s**t man. That’s the truth!

THE FACTS

Frying is the worst way to cook as it increases fat and calorie content.
