4 - Ricky immediately catches Frank’s left heel with his left hand and maintains control of Frank’s right leg with his right hand.
5 - Ricky falls to his side. Aware of a potential kneebar, Frank defends by forming a triangle with his legs.
6 - If your opponent doesn’t defend, go for the kneebar. Here, Ricky switches his attack by catching Frank’s right ankle.
7 - If your opponent doesn’t defend, go for the kneebar. Here, Ricky switches his attack by catching Frank’s right ankle.
8 - To prevent Frank from escaping, Ricky uses his left heel to block his hip. To finish the submission, Ricky hooks his left arm under Frank’s lower leg, clasps his hands together and rotates his grip clockwise.
PRO TIP
Be quick when you move from half guard to grab hold of your opponent’s leg. If they’re fast, they might seize the opportunity to take your back and put you in a very difficult and dangerous position.
