Kenny Johnson is one of the most esteemed wrestling coaches in MMA. Noted for his work with BJ Penn, he’s also taught Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida. He and UFC bantamweight Pedro Munhoz present the best wrestling techniques for MMA

1. Southpaw Pedro throws a right jab towards Kenny’s face, but Kenny ducks underneath and shoots for a single leg.

2. Kenny drops down to his right knee for a high single-leg and wraps his arms around Pedro’s right leg.

3. Kenny reaches his right hand under Pedro’s crotch and uses the gable grip. His left leg is cocked out for stability, and so he can drive forward off it.

4. Pedro overhooks Kenny’s left shoulder and tries to stop the takedown by posting his right leg and keeping his body stiff.

5. Kenny uses his left hand to pull Pedro’s posted ankle away. This causes Pedro to lose his balance and allows Kenny to complete the takedown.
