BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU

Four-time World Jiu-Jitsu Championships gold medal winner and UFC vet Vinny Magalhaes shares his best no-gi submissions aided by Syndicate MMA’s Casey Milliken

1. Casey starts off inside of Vinny’s guard. Casey is postured up, making it difficult for Vinny to pull off a submission or land any strikes. To get Casey in a position where he can search for submissions, Vinny sits up, gets a gable grip behind Casey’s neck and drags him down to the mat.

2. With Casey now under control, Vinny moves his right hip out. He then grabs his right ankle and pulls it towards the back of Casey’s neck to pull rubber guard. He holds his leg in position by holding his right ankle with his left hand.

Finish 1: Strikes

3. Because Casey is wrapped up on the ground, Vinny can land short punches or elbows to the side of his head without having to worry about being punched back.

Finish 2: Kimura

4. Vinny grabs Casey’s right wrist and torques it backwards and up. He then grabs his own wrist and pushes it further up. He turns his body slightly for leverage to finish the submission.
