Is Brock Lesnar on his way back to MMA?
Rumors of Brock Lesnar’s potential return to the UFC in the near future have continued to circulate among media sources. The former UFC heavyweight champion, who is currently slamming opponents in his second stint with professional wrestling promotion WWE, has apparently slimmed down his physique to prepare for his return to the Octagon. Long-time MMA and wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer said Brock’s return to MMA, along with Phil ‘CM Punk’ Brooks’ recent UFC signing, would be a huge deal for the WWE because, “the last thing WWE wants is this perception that UFC has just grabbed two of the company’s biggest stars.”
Silva reveals Jones 'taught him a few things' about striking
Former UFC middleweight champion and Muay Thai specialist Anderson Silva admitted he learned a few striking techniques from UFC 205lb champion Jon Jones ahead of his fight with Nick Diaz. ‘The Spider’ and ‘Bones’ had an impromptu sparring session at the UFC gym in Las Vegas following the UFC: The Time is Now press conference back in November. “It was normal training. He did a few things, and I did a few things,” Silva revealed. “It was a tough session for both of us. We learned a lot. He taught me a few things I didn’t know; I gave him a few tips. I like him a lot, and it was cool.”
Dustin Poirier set for return to lightweight division
The next time fans see Dustin Poirier inside the Octagon he’ll fight in the lightweight division. ‘The Diamond’ was booked against Carlos Diego Ferreira at UFC Fight Night 63 on April 4th after he announced his departure from the UFC’s stacked 145lb ranks via his Instagram account. Poirier leaves the division with an 8-3 record, which includes wins over Max Holloway, Diego Brandao and Jonathan Brookins. The ATT product last saw action in September at UFC 178 when he was KO’d by Conor McGregor.
‘Minotauro' Nogueira aims for two more fights before retirement
Legendary former Pride heavyweight champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira would like to fight two more times before he finally hangs up his gloves. The Brazilian mixed martial arts pioneer, who is recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee, would like to end his career on a high note after he was finished in his last two bouts.
“I want to fight again in April or May,” he said. “I’m thinking of ending my career next year. I want to have two more fights, although there’s no one specific yet to face. I’m ready to fight anyone. We’re elite athletes, high-performance, so I can fight anyone, but there’s no specific fight that I want.”
