The Bellator light heavyweight champion gets sweaty

FAIRTEX SHINPADS

“My shinpads are my Fairtex shinpads, which I’ve had for, man, I don’t know, maybe like a year and a half now. They always stay on. Some shin guards I’ve had I’ve always had to fix them in the middle of sparring sessions and that kind of stuff. And it kind of sucks, especially if you’re having a good round with your partner and all of a sudden you have to go, ‘Hang on!’ and fix your shinpads (laughs). These don’t move around too much

and they’ve always given good protection, for me and my sparring partners.”

 GLOVES

“I don’t wear a particular brand, I just have the brands that I have. For boxing gloves, I have a pair of Throwdown and a pair of Windy, and then I have another pair of bag gloves; I forget the name, my trainer gave them to me; they’re really good though. It’s the same for MMA gloves. I’ll have two pairs in my bag, or sometimes three.”

 T-SHIRTS

“I often bring a couple of extra T-shirts, just in case, because I sweat a bunch. I kind of grab whatever shirt is in my training shirt drawer and I just open it up and go, ‘Yeah, this shirt looks good.’ I’m not very selective of the shirts that I pick out before I go and train (laughs).”

 SUPPLEMENTS

“If I have a fight coming up I make sure that I have my protein and my supplements with me so I can have them right after training.”

 BELLATOR SHORTS

“I like to wear my Bellator shorts. They’re in my wardrobe and I’ll wear those every week. Sometimes I’ll take different pairs of shorts, too, but I’ll always make sure to wear my Bellator shorts in training because they’re comfortable, and I’ve got to represent, right?”

 SHOWER GEAR

“I always have my towel and my shower stuff with me because after training I like to shower.”

 BITE ME MOUTH GUARD

“Definitely, if you’re going to be a pro, you’ve got to have a good mouthpiece. So you can’t just do a boil and bite. Bite Me comes in, does the molds for you of your teeth and then uses that to make the mouthpiece. So I have a good mouthpiece; I love it.”
