Kenny Johnson is one of the most esteemed wrestling coaches in MMA. Noted for his work with BJ Penn, he’s also taught Anderson Silva and Lyoto Machida. He and RFA 135lb champion Pedro Munhoz present the best wrestling techniques for MMA
1. Kenny has Pedro’s leg up high with the ankle in his armpit.
2. Pedro leans in and ties Kenny’s head up to try and counter.
3. Kenny grabs Pedro’s left arm. NOTE: Fingers pointing up and thumb on the inside.
4. Kenny circles to his right (towards Pedro’s back) while shoving Pedro’s hand off his head.
5. Kenny continues to circle towards Pedro’s back as well as backing up and brings his forearm to the crux of Pedro’s leg (directly behind the knee).
6. Kenny pressures his forearm into the back of Pedro’s leg forcing him down and snatching him backward.
7. Kenny takes Pedro’s back and looks to transition to the next move.
